Per scaricare ed installare i driver, seguire i passi sottostanti:

PASSO n° 1: Consultare la licenza software di NVIDIA. Questa dovrà essere accettata prima di scaricare qualsiasi file.

PASSO n° 2: Consultare la documentazione
README - Versione testo o PDF .

PASSO n° 3: Scaricare il driver
Occorre scaricare 2 file: un file driver GLX ed un file driver nucleo La versione di questi file deve corrispondere.

PASSO n° 3A: Scaricare il file GLX driver
Per comodità viene fornito un file RPM. Se la vostra distribuzione non supporta RPM, è necessario utilizzare il file tar. Inoltre, per chi ne fosse interessato, viene fornita una sorgente RPM.

PASSO n° 3B: Scaricare il file driver nucleo
Se state utilizzando una delle distribuzioni elencate qui sotto, è possibile scaricare semplicemente il file appropriato ed installarlo. Se state utilizzando una distribuzione o versione nucleo, che non compare nell’elenco o se avete un nucleo aggiornato o non di default, occorre costruire il modulo nucleo. Se la vostra distribuzione non supporta RPM, è necessario utilizzare il file tar fornito. Se non siete certi del tipo di file necessario, occorre scaricare ed avviare Nvchooser: NVchooser.

PASSO n° 4: Verificare le dipendenze
Le dipendenze sono elencate in README. E‘importante notare, che il set di driver NVIDIA richiede Xfree versione 4.0.1. o superiore. Se questa non fosse disponibile nella vostra distribuzione linux, consultare il sito XFree86 web site (www.xfree86.org).
